Patrick Mcilwee is a Senior Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute (BCi), a Fellow of the Institute of Civil Protection & Emergency and has over 20 years experience in the field of Business Continuity and Disaster Management. He has been involved in the operational responses to over 4752 incidents within the UK and overseas,
Patrick’s wide ranging expertise includes detailed knowledge of ISO22301, ISO27000, ISO20301 and OSHAS 18001:2007 which has enabled him to offer advice and support across both the Private and Public sectors ranging from Governments, Military and Emergency Services to Multi-Nationals and SMEs in a wide variety of sectors worldwide. These include but are not limited to Airport Authorities, Local Governments, Health Services, Industrial Organizations, Retail Outlets, Transport & Logistics Organizations, Utilities Companies, Voluntary Organizations, Banks and Banking Regulators.
As a prominent member of the BCi’s Global Membership Council, Patrick has used his subject matter expertise to help develop BCi certification standards and skills benchmarking, including the BCi entrance exam and the CFA European standard. Patrick also volunteered his experience to co-ordinate the BCi response to the tragic event in Japan following the March 2011 earthquake.
Additionally Patrick acts as Special Adviser and international guest speaker for the BCi and the BCM community. He is a co author of the “Encyclopedia of Crisis Management” and is presently writing two books on “Resilience” and “Incident Management”.
Patrick is a BCM and Civil Protection Consultant and has a passion for training and sharing his knowledge with those new to the Business Continuity and Civil Protection discipline as well as more experienced Practitioners who are seeking more in-depth learning around dealing with crisis and emergency management covering everything from loss of a Data Centre to Terrorism. Patrick is also a member of “Institute of Emergency Safety Managers”.
